25 OCT 2010 EXTENDED FORECAST

LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP OVER KANSAS TODAY THEN RAPIDLY DEEPEN AS IT LIFTS THROUGH IOWA TONIGHT AND INTO MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN ON TUESDAY. THE RESULT WILL BE VERY STRONG WINDS OVER THE AREA ON TUESDAY WITH GUSTS APPROACHING 60 MPH. THE WIND WILL DIMINISH TUESDAY NIGHT BEFORE STRENGTHENING AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY. GUSTS ON WEDNESDAY OF 40 TO 50 MPH ARE LIKELY.

A STRONG AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DIG INTO THE REGION TONIGHT AND TUESDAY AND IS FORECAST TO AFFECT THE STATE THROUGH WEDNESDAY. GUSTY SOUTH WINDS ARE EXPECTED TODAY AND TONIGHT...WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING THIS EVENING OVER THE STATE. AS A COLD FRONT SWEEPS ACROSS THE STATE EARLY TUESDAY MORNING...VERY STRONG WINDS WILL DEVELOP AND PERSIST THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT...ESPECIALLY ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA. STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL CONTINUE DURING THE DAY WEDNESDAY BEFORE FINALLY DIMINISHING EARLY THURSDAY.

The threat for severe weather will return to the Midwest tonight as a storm system advances into the area. A few damaging thunderstorms could erupt over southeastern Wisconsin, eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois. On Tuesday, the threat for severe weather will shift into the southern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.
