MOISTURE TO THE UPPER MIDWEST. BY THURSDAY EVENING...AN UPPER LEVEL AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DRIFT INTO THE PLAINS FROM THE DESERT SOUTHWEST AS THE WEEKEND FORECAST CALLS FOR SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY SOME ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

On this day in Iowa weather history...
1950: The last three weeks of October saw several periods of unusual warmth with Iowa City reaching 94 F on the 18th which was the highest temperature recorded in the state that month. Columbus Junction, Keosauqua, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, Toledo, and Williamsburg also reached 90 degrees on the 18th.
