29 Jan 2011 Extended Forecast
I hinted at this yesterday with my Text Forecast....It appears a powerfull storm is on tap for atleast the southern half of the state from late Sunday thru early Wed.....Widespread snowfall will return Sunday Night into Monday across Iowa with light to moderate accumulations into Tuesday. Additional moderate to possibly heavy snowfall will be possible later Tuesday into early Wednesday - Heaviest snowfall will be South and East of a line from Davenport to Cedar Rapids to Fairfield. Best guess right now is that over the period late Sunday into early Wed we can expect up to 7 inches of snow along with a Gusty ENE Wind. My gut feeling is the heaviest snow will fall in the SE Corner of Pow Cty, with lesser amount in the NW. The brunt of snow will fall Tuesday/Tuesday Nite. Best Snowfall Estimates right now: Des Moines 4 inches - Grinnell 4-5 inches - Montezuma 5-6 Inches - Cedar Rapids 5-6 inches - Sigourney 6-7 inches - Ottumwa 8+ inches. Forecast Models are all over the place with this one - but most of the more reliable models are coming together with a common solution. One thing for sure - It's going to snow...Temperatures will be much colder into next week along with brisk north winds.
Today 29th - Cloudy - Mostly Cloudy/Flurries - High 30.
Sun thru Wed 30th thru Feb 2nd - Lt Snow/Blowing Snow beginning Late Sunday into Monday and Tuesday (4-6 Inches) - Dry/Breezy by midday Wed - Temps High Teens dropping to near 10 by Wed.
