24 FEB 2011 EXTENDED FORECAST

A WINTER STORM SYSTEM APPROACHING FROM THE SOUTHWEST WILL SPREAD SNOW INTO CENTRAL IOWA THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...EXPECT ACCUMULATIONS OF 3-4 INCHES SOUTH OF I-80 (POW CTY), AND 6+ INCHES SOUTH OF HWY 92 AND EAST OF HWY 63 - WITH LESSER AMOUNTS AS YOU GO WEST (DES MOINES 2-3 INCHES).  BEHIND THIS SYSTEM WE WILL SEE CONTINUED COOLER WEATHER AND PERSISTENT LIGHT SNOW FROM FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE THRU ON SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT BRINGING A WINTER MIX OF PRECIP INTO POW CTY - FOLLOWED BY MORE SNOW AND WIND.

WINTER STORM WARNING ISSUED BY NWS AT 2PM - 6-8 INCHES FROM 6PM TO MIDNITE..........

Today and Fri 24th/25th: Temps 34/25 - Dry/Breezy This Morning - then Lt Snow by 5-7PM and lasting overnite (3-4 Inches POW CTY) - Note:  Total accumulations from 6pm tonite thru 6am Friday morning will range from 1-3" north of I-80 and 3-6" south of I-80, East of Hwy 63 - Then Dry/Breezy Fri Morning - Lt Snow by Fri Afternoon.

Sat 26th - Temp 25 - morning Lt Snow (Additional snow 2-3") - Dry by Afternoon - Rain/Snow Overnite.

Sun and Mon 27th/28th - "Some Snow Melt" Temps 37 Sun, dropping to High 20's Mon Aftn - Rain/Thunder/Sleet/Fog Sunday - changing to Lt Snow/Wind  overnite Sun into Monday midday - (Additional snow 1-3")- Then Dry/Windy.

Tues thru Fri Feb 1st thru 4th - Dry Tues/Wed - Rain/Snow Thurs - Rainshowers/Windy Friday.

Sat and Sun 5th/6th - Rain to Snow and Windy.

Mon and Tues 7th/8th - Snow/Wind Mon - then Dry Tues.


Once we get hit, or about to get hit with an Impact Storms - I like to follow-up.....

Here's another Hint:  We may have some Real Weather Problems the second week of March (5th thru 10th) if things Pan Out like I think they will...........Time will tell.
