7 Feb 2011 Extended Forecast

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO IOWA LATER TODAY ENDING THE CHANCES FOR SNOW - BUT WILL ALSO USHER IN SHARPLY COLDER AIR ONCE AGAIN.....

THE FRONT WILL RACE SOUTHEAST INTO THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY WITH ARCTIC AIR SPREADING THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR EARLY IN THE DAY FOR MANY LOCATIONS WITH READINGS STEADY OR SLOWLY FALLING BY AFTERNOON. THE COMBINATION OF NORTH WINDS AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW WIND CHILLS TO DROP WELL BELOW ZERO BY MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY WITH BITTERLY COLD CONDITIONS WIDESPREAD. THE ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY BEFORE TEMPERATURES BEGIN TO MODERATE. THE WARMING WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH NEXT WEEKEND WITH READINGS CLIMBING ABOVE NORMAL BY SATURDAY AS SOUTHWEST WINDS BRING A MILD AIRMASS INTO THE REGION. THERE IS LITTLE THREAT OF PRECIPITATION DURING THIS TIME AS SYSTEM REMAIN IN CANADA OR IN THE SOUTHERN UNITED STATES.

Today/Tues 7th/8th - Flurries -Then Dry/Breezy during the afternoon - Dry - Highs decreasing to near 12 by 5pm today - High 5 Tues - Lows -5 to -10 - Wind Chills around -20.

Wed thru Fri 9th thru 11th - Lt Snowshowers early Wed - then Dry Thurs/Fri - Highs near 10 Wed/15 Thurs/28 Fri - Lows 0-5 Below.

After the 12th will be an unsettled with periods of mixed precip - but overall much warmer.  Temps may reach near 50 by the 16th/17th before we are reminded Winter IS NOT over after the 18th when the next push of Cold heads south. Enjoy the warmth.


Sat/Sun 12th/13th - Warmer (Low/Mid 30's) - Dry Sat - Then Drizzle/Fog.

Mon/Tues 14th/15th - Lt Snowshowers early Mon - then Dry - Temps Low 40's.

Wed/Thurs 16th/17th - Rainshowers - Temps nearing 50.

After the 18th?  Much Colder/Snow
