Expect Showers with an Isolated Rumble of Thunder this afternoon as a weak cool front moves thru Central Iowa. It will quickly move to the east taking the precip with it. Any rain that does fall will be spotty at best and does not look like any showstopper. Another weak upper level system will move thru Fri afternoon - sparking isolated showers......The next good shot at rain will be Sunday when a much strong system enters the picture. The pattern will remain unsettled thru next Wed - Keeping us above seasonal normal for Temps, and above normal Precip. May even some snowshowers Wed as the pattern cools signicantly.

On this day in Iowa weather history...
1870: A snow storm with strong winds impacted portions of Iowa and Minnesota from March 14-17. More than a month later the Estherville Vindicator newspaper coined the term "blizzard" to describe this storm, making this the earliest known published use of the word blizzard as a weather term.
