A few isolated thunderstorms will be possible today as a warm front lifts North through Iowa.  However...More widespread thunderstorms are expected North of I-80 this evening - some of these will be Severe with the main threat being Large Hail and Damaging Winds. An isolated Tornado can't be ruled out by evening.  The threat of severe storms will continue into Sunday as a Cold Front passes through Central Iowa during the afternoon/evening hours. The main area of concern will be the Eastern Half of Iowa (East of I-35) on Sunday afternoon.



Today:  Becoming Breezy - Afternoon and Evening Showers/Storms - Temp 75.

Sunday:  Showers/Storms (Some Severe) by Late Morning - Windy - Temp Low 80's.

Monday: Morning Showers and Windy - Dry and Breezy by Afternoon - Temp 55.

Tuesday:  Dry - Temp 65.

Wed and Thurs:  Dry and Breezy Wed - Showers/Storms overnite Wed into Thurs - Temps 70/60.

Fri and Sat:  Fri Morning Showers then Dry by After Noon - Sat Morning Showers then Dry and Breezy After Noon - Temps Mid/High 50's.

Sun and Mon:  Dry Sun - Showers/ Isolated Storms Monday - Temps near 70.


On this day in Iowa weather history...

1988: A very strong cold front passed through northwestern Iowa producing snowfall just one day after temperatures had peaked in the 80s. On the 8th the temperature reached a daily record high 88 F at Sioux City, 87 F at Le mars, and 83 F at Sibley. On the 9th those same locations received 2.1, 1.5, and 2.0 inches of snow respectively.
