13 June 2011 Extended Pow Cty Forecast

The active weather pattern continues for central Iowa as upper level disturbances parade across the state every 24 to 36 hours. At the surface...a warm front will position itself near Southern Iowa. Along with a gradual warm up will come periods of thunderstorms. There will be episodes of severe storms throughout the week but the position of the warm front and the timing of the upper level disturbances will be key to determining where the severe threat will be and what mode of severe weather will be possible. Heavy rainfall is also a threat - especially along and South of Interstate 80.  Pow County will see upwards of 2 inches of rain thru Wed afternoon, with an additional inch or so over next weekend.  Counties in South and East Iowa could see up to 4 inches thru the end of next weekend.
