Wed, 15 June 2011 Pow Cty Extended Forecast

Doppler Rainfall Estimates from 7pm Tues to Current:  Grinnell 1/2"... Montezuma 1/2"... Mahaska County 1-2"... Keokuk County Mainly 2-3" (Pocket of 5" along Iowa/Keokuk County Line)... Iowa County Mainly 1-2" with 3-4" pocket south).

 A ridge of high pressure will enter Iowa today from the west and will bring an end to the lingering precipitation. The area of high pressure will remain in control tonight and most of Thurs. Thunderstorm chances will begin to move back into southwest Iowa on Thursday. A more significant chance for storms arrives Thursday night through Friday night as a warm front lifts back north towards southern Iowa. A few severe storms and heavy rainfall will once again be possible with this activity. At this time, the most favored area for heavy rainfall is over southern Iowa - mainly south of the I-80 Corridor.  Pow Cty will see an inch of rain, while counties south and east could easily see another 3" rainfall thru Friday.




Today and Thurs 15th/16th:  Breezy Today - Brief Showers Til Noon today - then Dry thru the day Thurs - Showers overnite Thurs - Temps near 80.

Fri and Sat 17th/18th:  Breezy - Isolated morning Showers - then afternoon Tstorms Fri lasting into Sat (Isolated Strong Storms) - Temps Low 80's. 

Sun thru Wed 19th-22nd: Unsettled with Isolated Showers and Storms thru Wed (Mon and Tues TStorms) - Temps near 85 dropping to High 70's Wed.

Thurs thru Wed 23rd-29th:  Nice/Mainly Dry - Temps Mid 70's to Low 80's.

Thurs and Fri 30th/31st: Isolated Tstorms.

Sat July 1st:  Dry
