Monday, 20 June 2011 Extended Pow Cty Forecast

Doppler Radar Estimated Rainfall amounts from 8pm last evening to 5am this morning ranged from 1"-2.5" along and south of 1-80 from Des Moines to Iowa City.  One pocket of 2"+ in Pow County near and just south of Montezuma - expect these totals to increase an inch or more before the precip ends.  Farther South - 1"-5" along Hwy 34 west to east - a pocket of 5" just south of Ottumwa.....

Expect the ongoing Tstorms to weaken and move east by mid-morning. Most of the day will be breezy/warm/dry, and humid.....The heavier rains overnite should stabilize the atmosphere enough to keep any additional Tstorms at bay at least until early evening - then look-out!

The next system is gearing up this morning in Central Kansas, and will track Northeast dragging a warm front into Southern Iowa by this evening.  A wide spread area of Severe Thunderstorms will develop in SW Iowa and track into Central Iowa by 6-8pm.

Take this one serious - Expect Heavy Rain/Large Hail/Wind Gusts in excess of 75mph, and possibly an Isolated Tornado.  Enough said.
