Thursday, 28 July 2011 Extended Forecast

The system and frontal boundary responsible for thunderstorms and very heavy rains overnite this morning (6"+ North and East of Cedar Rapids) will sag to the south and east today reaching southeast Nebraska, northwest Missouri and southern Iowa by this evening. This will continue to be the focus for thunderstorms today and tonight. Some of these storms may be severe with damaging winds and also very heavy rains. Rainfall amounts could reach or just exceed an inch or two in an hour along the front which will situated along and south of Hwy 34. The showers and storms should move off to the south and east later Friday with seasonally warm and humid conditions for the weekend and little or no precipitation.


Today 28th: Isolated Tstorms will end after 10am - then Re-develop after 3pm (3/4"-1" Rain) - Temps 91 (Heat Index near 100).

Fri and Sat 29th/30th: Fri Morning Tshowers - Then Dry - Temps 88/90.

Sun thru Tues 31st-Aug 2nd: Dry/Hot/Humid - Temps Low 90's.

Wed thur Sat 3rd-6th: Isolated Tstorms Wed/Thurs - Then Dry - Temps High 80's.

Sun thru Fri 7th-12th: Tshowers Sun/Mon - then Dry and Cooler.
