Wed, 31 AUGUST 2011 EXTENDED POW COUNTY FORECAST

As I mentioned last week, a Tropical System "IS" developing in the Gulf of Mexico.  While most of the moisture from the system will be cut off to our South and East, some of it will spill Northward in strong southerly flow Thursday and Friday - increasing our moisture ahead of a cold front....

Southerly winds and mostly sunny skies will bring hot and humid conditions beginning today into Thursday, when near record high temperatures are forecast across central Iowa where the heat index will approach or exceed 100 degrees at times. A cold front will sweep across Iowa on Friday bringing Pow County showers and thunderstorms. Another system will push across the state on Saturday, providing additional chances for showers and thunderstorms (Rainfall Totals Fri/Sat 1/2"+) along with significantly cooler weather from Sunday into next week.


Today thru Fri 31st-Sept 2nd: Dry - Temp 88.

Thurs and Fri Sept 1st/2nd: Dry/Breezy Thurs -Dry thru Midday Friday - Isolated Afternoon Tshowers - Temps 95/88.

Sat and Sun 3rd/4th: Sat Morning Rain/Breezy - Then Dry/Breezy thru Sun - Temps 80/75.

Mon thru Wed 5th-7th: Dry Mon/Tues - Showers Wed - Temps - Low 70's.

Thurs thru Sun 8th-11th: Showers/Windy Thurs/Fri - Dry Sat/Sun - High Temps Cool Down in the Mid 60's.

Mon thru Fri 12th-16th: Dry.

7 Sept-16 Sept:  1/4 Inch

Average Daily Temp Forecast:
