Alot of talk about the Winter Storm today and tonite. There will be a fine line between heavy snow and lighter amounts. Previous thinking was the storm would stay well north - the track has slid slightly south.
The heaviest snow amounts will occur on a line from (mainly North of I-80) Davenport to Marshalltown to Denison and northward. Expect up to 8 inches of snowfall in this area.......
South of I-80 in a bit more complicated. Right now I'm looking at anywhere from 1 inch to the south to near Ottumwa, to 2-3 inches northward to I-80........
Expect steady to slowing dropping temps to below the freezing mark by noon with winds picking up and gusting to 30mph. Rain and snow will mix thru the afternoon, with periods of all snow. The main Snowfall should end around midnite tonite, with only isolated snowshowers thru noon Friday. Bottom Line: Overall snowfall in Pow County thru midday Friday. 2-3 inches.........
The next significant systems looks to arrive next week - late Monday into Wednesday with heavy snowfall in Northern and Central Iowa. Something to Watch!
